Hyundai unveils new Santa Fe at NY Show

Hyundai gave a world premiere to the new Santa Fe at the 2012 New York International Auto Show, reports Padraic Deane from the Big Apple.

In its latest form, the popular D-segment SUV is re-styled inside and out, and fitted with enhanced features and new technology. It is also powered by re-tuned engines with improved efficiency – all of which, Hyundai says, is to ensure it will offer European buyers a visually-appealing, sophisticated, lifestyle vehicle when it goes on sale in late summer or early autumn.

Sale of The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe finalized

Benchmark Hospitality International, “a leading US-based independent hospitality management company,” has announced that The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe has joined the company’s portfolio of Personal Luxury Resorts & Hotels. Burt Cabañas, chairman and CEO, made the announcement April 11.

“I am delighted to welcome The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe into the Benchmark Hospitality family of luxury properties,” said Cabañas. “This is our first San Diego-area hotel, which beautifully complements our properties in Northern California, including Chaminade Resort & Spa in Santa Cruz, and our Personal Luxury Resort, Bardessono in Napa Valley.”

Hyundai rolls out stretched Santa Fe family

Hyundai Motor Co., realizing it isn’t appealing to families as much as it could, has rolled out two new versions of the Santa Fe crossover SUV, including one that’s stretched so it can seat up to seven people.

The new crossovers, introduced Wednesday at the New York International Auto Show, are aimed at people with two or more children and need storage space and other capabilities of an SUV.

2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Interior Revealed

Not officially, but someone with full access to the new 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe has published full pictures of the interior on the web. The new Santa Fe, or ix45, is still under embargo until 2012 New York Auto Show and Hyundai has only released a couple of renderings of the car so far.

The interior of the 2013 Santa Fe is right on the money. It follows the same cool layout first seen in the new Sonata and then continued in the i40, i30, Azera and Veloster. Just like the exterior, the cabin is also completely different over the current Santa Fe, which is a good. We also hope they have increased the quality of the used materials, especially the seats which used to get worn rather quickly.

Santa Fe film ambassadors head to SXSW

A group of municipalities, businesses and film industry officials will attend South by Southwest in Austin next week to discuss the advantages of filming in Santa Fe and around New Mexico. SXSW started as a music festival with 700 attendees in 1987. It has grown to a far more comprehensive event that includes film and high-tech companies, with more that 16,000 attendees. It takes place March 9 to 18.

Shoot Santa Fe is out to target independent filmmakers with the effort, said Luca Ceccarelli, owner of HDNM Entertainment LLC and one of the founders of the New Mexico Post Alliance.

Santa Fe Springs raising taxes, cutting jobs

Facing a $13.4 million “budgetary challenge” caused by the elimination of redevelopment agencies, city officials say they will eliminate 20 to 30 jobs and raise a voter-approved utility tax to 5 percent. Director of Finance Jose Gomez estimated the city will lose more than $30 million annually in its general fund budget. Of that amount, about $13.4 million is allocated toward operating and capital costs.

The 2011-12 general fund budget is $55 million. “It’s a large dollar amount,” Gomez said. “We are looking at everything, no one area will carry the load.”
